Natalie comes from a middle class family, situated in the Beltsville suburb of Washington, DC. She is the youngest of two children and was brought up in a relatively ordinary household, with the occasional spat, but nothing to set the Lawrences apart from the rest of the community. Their family life remains healthy and all the members get along fairly well, even if they do live in different parts of the country. Christopher and Sarah, their parents, still live in Beltsville, whereas Andrew and Natalie have relocated, to Boston and Providence respectively.

Never one to act on impulse, Natalie made her first big decision when she moved to New York following college. She'd just graduated and was still experimenting with adulthood; she felt that she really needed to be away from her parents in order to become completely independent and New York City seemed just the place. A melting pot of all cultures and people, there seemed to be no other place for the girl.

Having attended Towson University, Natalie decided to put her Journalism degree to use when she moved to the big city. Though not that different from Washington, it didn't take her too long to figure out that there's just nothing quite like NYC. She got an apartment in Morningside Heights, sharing rent with three other people and learned even more about herself and life as she'd never had to live with strangers in such close quarters.

Unfortunately her dreams didn't come true right away, as a naive 22-year-old would have expected. Natalie was stuck in Administrative Assistant positions for two years before she even got a call back about a writing position. She worked as a copy writer for a man's magazine for six months, before applying elsewhere as a columnist. Surprisingly, she got the job writing a Sex & Relationships advice column.

After a year behind the column, the magazine went under with the economic crisis and Natalie was once more unemployed. She looked for work as a Journalist for another four months, before finally giving up and taking a position as a receptionist at a Communications company. Needless to say, she didn't adapt to the job, but it did tide her over for the next two months, as she looked for something more appropriate to her field of expertise.

When she landed the position as an interviewer for a match-making agency, it wasn't exactly her dream job, but it was better than answering phones and it was money in her bank account that would make it unnecessary for her to keep asking her parents for help to support herself. The job ended up being a lot of fun, even if it only made Natalie's already cynical views on romantic relationships even more skeptical of "real love".

She stayed with the company for another two years and during that time her position changed a few times. She not only worked preparing the script for the on-camera portion of the registration process for the company, but eventually she also moved into doing press relations, as well as organizing company events.

It surprised Natalie how easily she'd picked up on the event coordination, considering how little patience she had for dealing with people. But as it turned out, having a firm voice with suppliers and not minding it too much when she got a bitch rep actually helped her in that area. Soon, she was in charge of not only company events, but also parties and other functions for clients and investors.

Things were going well enough when, once more, the company Natalie worked for filed for bankruptcy and she was out of a job. New York hadn't gotten any less expensive to live in and this time, when she found herself unemployed and with no means to pay the rent, as her salary had only allowed her to live month-to-month all those years, the woman decided it was time for a change.

She looked for jobs in DC, Boston and Providence, which were all cities she had family in. Providence proved to be the cheaper option, but also the first place she heard back from all the CVs she'd sent out before packing up her Manhattan apartment, ready to move back in with her parents if she had to. Luckily, she got called back on two more interviews in the span of two weeks and by the time her lease ran out, Natalie was already set to move to Providence and stay with her aunt while she found herself an affordable place to live in.

Her new position was a mid-level event coordinator at a catering company, which is more stressful and specific than one would have guessed. She makes surprisingly good money from it, even if she is still not all that able to afford a lot of luxuries.

As a way to supplement her income, Natalie still writes a weekly column for the local newspaper titled "30 and Single!", portraying the ups and downs of... being 30 and single. Yeah, it's pretty self-explanatory, except her pseudonym has a lot more sex than the brunette has ever had in her life. She counts on a little creative license to make her fictional self more interesting than her real self.

Currently, Natalie shares a house with OPEN and their kid. It's an adaptation, but seeing as she has recently started wanting a family, Natalie sees it as good practice. At the very least, it beats living alone, because her first year in Providence, tucked away in a one bed/one bath apartment all by herself was all short of hell for the event planner.
